International courses in the music professions - Rules governing the financing procedure

International students

Every year, Itemm welcomes foreign students on full-time training courses, from September to June.

The courses concerned are those linked to instrument construction - piano, wind instruments and guitar – and the sound control room.

The instrument construction courses offer students an opportunity to learn the theoretical and practical basics of instrument repair, maintenance and tuning. They include two company placements (7 weeks in February and April) and prepare students for the following diplomas awarded by the French Ministry of Education:
- CAP (vocational certificate) in piano tuning;
- CAP technical assistant for musical instruments, specialising in guitar;
- CAP technical assistant for musical instruments, specialising in wind instruments.

The sound engineer course offers two specialisations: live entertainment and multimedia production. It includes a company placement (6 weeks in May and June) and prepares students for a Level 3 qualification recorded in the National Vocational Certification Registry:
- Sound engineer for live entertainment or multimedia production.

Who are these courses aimed at ?

They are aimed at applicants who are at least 18 years of age and who are undergoing a professionalisation procedure in their home country. The career plan must be clearly explained in the application, and must give full information about prospects for employment and the support of local institutions.

As the courses are given in French, applicants must have a good command of the French language. In special circumstances, additional teaching modules may be organised during the period at Itemm. The examination must be taken in French.

Applications :

The application should be returned to Itemm before 30 April. There will also be a telephone interview due to the geographical distance.

Once the selection committee has studied the applications, candidates will be informed of its decision within three weeks.

Conditions of the stay :

There is a procedure in place for totally or partially covering tuition fees for candidates who are not of French nationality and do not live in France. Requests for such financial support must be made with your application.

Candidates are responsible for their own travel, accommodation and living expenses.

Candidates must make sure that they have completed all the administrative formalities linked to their stay in France before they start their training course.
